PROF ZIAD ABBASSI · SINT-STEVENS-WOLUWE

Medical laser: hair removal, skin, body and hair

Treatment choice starts with an examination and discussion of your expectations. Indications, technology, expected number of sessions and equipment availability are explained at the appointment.

Medical laser hair removal

Requests include the face, underarms, bikini area, legs, back, chest and shoulders. An initial consultation considers your skin, hair, medication and sun exposure.

The protocol and precautions are personalised. A skin test may be offered when indicated. Treatment duration and results vary between individuals.

Pigmentation, redness and acne scars

Brown spots, facial redness, visible small vessels, acne marks or uneven texture may prompt an opinion. Fractional laser, resurfacing, laser peeling or other care options are discussed after examination.

A spot or lesion must not be assumed benign from appearance alone. Some situations require further investigation rather than aesthetic treatment.

Stretch marks, cellulite and firming

Stretch marks, aesthetic cellulite, localised fat and loose skin can be discussed in consultation. Laser, external radiofrequency, electroporation or shockwave options are reviewed according to indication.

Requests for lipodystrophy correction, lipolysis, laser liposuction or abdominal firming after pregnancy need prior assessment. If there is a lump, hernia or diastasis, assessment of the abdominal wall takes priority to clarify the concern.

Warts, nails and excessive sweating

Consultations may concern plantar or multiple warts, selected benign skin lesions, suspected fungal nails (onychomycosis) or excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Diagnosis precedes treatment choice.

The suitability of laser and its alternatives are discussed case by case. Removing a lesion may require laboratory analysis rather than destruction.

Hair loss and hair stimulation

Reduced hair density or thinning hair may prompt assessment. PRP, laser and LED options are discussed after considering the cause and previous treatments. Regrowth is not guaranteed.

Useful information before a session

Bring information about medication and previous procedures. The doctor explains contraindications, possible after-effects, aftercare and risks, including burns, pigment changes or scarring depending on the technique.

Rejunlight care and other protocols are discussed according to your concern.

Snoring: a concern requiring separate assessment

Would you like advice about treatment for snoring, including laser? Mention this at your appointment. Prior assessment and alternatives are discussed before a protocol is offered.

Report witnessed pauses in breathing during sleep and daytime sleepiness. Referral to a sleep team may be necessary; treating snoring does not replace assessment for possible sleep apnoea.

Your questions

Can I choose a laser treatment from a photo alone?

A photograph does not replace examination. Diagnosis, skin type, medical history and expectations determine the appropriate options.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions, intervals and fees are explained after assessment. They vary by area and indication.
